Who Moved My Cheese? is a story about change /

누가 내 치즈를 옮겼는가? 는 미로 안에서 벌어지는 변화에 관한 이야기다.

 

that takes place in a Maze where four amusing characters look for "Cheese"/

그 변화는 재미있는 등장인물들이 치즈를 찾아 헤매는 '미로'에서 일어난다.

 

 - cheese being a metaphor for what we want to have in life,/

삶에서 우리가 가지고 싶어 하는 것에 대한 비유로서의 '치즈'

(즉, 이 이야기에서 '치즈'는 우리가 삶에서 갖길 원하는 것에 대한 비유로 사용된다.)

 

whether it is a job, a relationship, money, a big house, freedom, health, recognition,

spiritual peace or even an activity like jogging or golf.

그게(즉, 치즈가) 직장이든, 인간관계든, 혹은 돈, 큰 집, (경제적?) 자유, 건강, 명성, 영혼의 안정,

심지어는 조깅이나 골프같은 활동이든 간에.

 

Each of us has our own idea of what Cheese is,

우리들 각각은 (우리에게 있어) '치즈'가 무엇인지에 대한 자신만의 생각을 가지고 있다.

 

and we pursue it because we believe it makes us happy.

그리고 그게 우리를 행복하게 해 줄 거라 믿기에, 그것을 추구한다.

 

If we get it, we often become attached to it.

만약 우리가 그것(치즈)를 얻으면, 우린 흔히 그것에 집착하게 된다.

 

And if we lose it, or it's taken away, it can be traumatic.

그리고 만일 우리가 그것을 잃어버리거나, 혹은 빼앗기면, 그것은 우리에게 트라우마를 남긴다.

The 'Maze' in the story represents where you spend time looking for what you want.

이 이야기 속 '미로'는 우리가 원하는 것(치즈)을 찾아 헤매며 시간을 보내는 곳이다.

 

It can be the organization you work in, the community you live in, or the relationships you have in your life.

그것(미로)은 여러분이 일하는 직장, 살고 있는 지역사회, 또는 여러분의 삶에서 맺고 있는 인간관계일 수도 있다.

 

I tell the Cheese story that you are about to read in my talks around the world,

난 여러분이 이제 막 읽으려는 이 '치즈'이야기를 전 세계에 들려주었다.

 

and often hear later from people about what a difference it has made to them.

그리고 얼마 지나, 이 이야기가 그들에게 있어(그들 삶에) 얼마나 큰 차이를 만들었는 지에 대해 자주 듣는다.
